This ad made me stop and think. Simple? Yes. Effective? Absolutely.
Let's figure out why…

1) Anchoring Bias in action: The first option (spend $1,500 on supplements) sets a high financial value as an anchor, making the second option seem more reasonable. It doesn’t even say how much their product costs (on the right). Even without the knowledge of that, we are framed for it to be perceived as an affordable option.
2) Color psychology: The other option is in RED, signifying danger. The suggested option is Green = safe. The CTA is Orange inciting enthusiasm, excitement, and urgency towards taking action.
3) Emotional resonance: The smiling person associated with option B can evoke positive emotions, making it more likely that viewers will feel good about choosing that option.
4) The ad appeals to both the rational side (with the financial comparison) and the emotional side (with the image of the smiling person), which aligns with the dual-process theory of decision-making.
5) Minimalism and selective attention: The ad's minimalist design with enough white space around the text and images avoids overwhelming the viewer. And, the design of the ad uses selective attention principles by directing focus to the contrasting choices, ensuring that the message is not lost in a clutter of details.
